Dear Reader,

Summary:
I have a gift of increasing efficiency through appropriate staff management and use of strategic technology. Registered California & Florida General Contractor. VDC certificated by Stanford University, California.

Objective:
I would like to leverage my management expertise, innovative solutions, and construction proficiencies for you. Experienced high end single family, Assisted living, data center, apartments, hospitality, military, solar, museum, seismic and most recently large complex Intel semiconductor fabrication factory projects. Semiconductor represents the most complex type of construction found today. {Two Billion dollars in sixteen months} Lessons learned and experience can be applied to your projects.

Narrative:
Approximately 2 billion dollars is spent renovating factories within 16 months. The projects involve around a thousand people. Although scope remains confidential, the statistics are impressive. These multibillion-dollar projects, require state of the art management & technology. Critical success factors are: cooperation of field & office personnel and adherence to plans, specs and schedule, with ROI metrics.

Owners, general and trade contractors remain pressured by unskilled labor, compressed schedules, and tighter budgets. Owners award projects to those who can leverage new methods in order to maintain their margins.  I would like to share my learning’s with you.

My expertise preserves margins by combining legacy process with new design, construction technologies & practice. I have construction knowledge of the semiconductor ecosystem and trade contractor environment combined with experience in base build, conversions, and tool installation design and construction criteria.

Sincerely,
Gregory S. Robinson

Typical Interview

Opening Statement:

Team, you will not find a more committed candidate.
Countless hours reviewing construction documents on servers, walking work areas after hours and weekends
An owners perspective vs trade or subcontractor perspective.
How will this benefit Intel vs trade contractor
Dedication to improve processes.
Quality improvement papers, help videos, automation, metrics on new processes

https://lucrosol.com/node/37 Greg with Martin Fisher, Roberto Arbulu, John Kunz, Stanford University CIFE

Strengths:
  • Knowing Intel BIM space intimately
  • VDC/BIM Domain expert
  • Application of appropriate technology to problem at hand.
Weaknesses.
  •  Given I am blessed with reasonably accurate intuition, not listening is not a positive experience.
  •  Think quite fast, and must constantly stay aware of others to understanding before I continue.
  •  Name recall, need to write down names.
Intel Accomplishments:

•    Batch processing and building of functional area federated models (cmd / powershell)
•    AutoLISP program to identify scans near your route
•    Visual studio C Sharp program to copy laser scans to encrypted disks for doc control (ran on Intel shared drives, as .exe) This exponentially reduced time to provide laser scans to trades. C:\Users\Greg\Documents\Visual Studio 2015\Projects\ScanInfo10
•    Visual studio C Sharp ARX Program to sum line lengths from surfaces (ran locally in AutoCAD as .arx)
•    C:\Users\Greg\Documents\Visual Studio 2015\Projects\SurfacesTOOPlines
a.    Ref: University Mechanical not providing quantities (centerlines)  in their (3d surface exports ) models
b.    Note:  Kean Walmsley of Autodesk Research provided critical code snippit
•    Implemented “Lunch & Learn”, to date Brycon, Jacks, Big J, DSI, B&D, IMCOR
•    Took control of TFS PFA installation process failure and was instrumental in driving issues to solution
•    Provided process and educated / instructed staff on Intel site control and transformation processes for CH2M Hill design, Hoffman, all Trade contractors, M&W, Westlake surveyors, Ming Surveyors, and Intel Engineering Layout data, then created master site control files for entire Intel Project
•    Spearheaded use of Attributes in blocks permitting users to locate information in 3D space within the Navis viewer, using Find, Selection Tree and Quick Properties
•    Created Popouts as Attributes for F12, 22, 32, bridge, 42, 28, & 28A
•    Created process to track attributed Clash point blocks – AKA Ninja Stars
•    Created Survey point attributes blocks
•    Created Scanner file symbol solution, together with Faro SDK C# .NET software solution to crawl network drives for daily Laser Scan positions and names
•    Create Hyperlink solution for Scanner location files
•    Create Tool POC creation solution to populate Tool blocks with POC Attributes (name and location)
•    Solved Fab 12 Hidden POC (flipped C bit) problem
•    Deduced Harder Cadworx extended Entity POC data extraction method
•    Created Batch Process to build functional area federated models automatically
•    Created and distributed process to derive geometry from laser scan files, i.e. Document object, ASCPOINT.LSP, and pipefit to AutoCAD ad Navis
•    Created and distributed process to being 3D model information from AutoCAD into Laser Scan 3D point information
•    Created CUBED DMZ program to automate Joel Beckhams cubed DMZ idea
•    Converting survey control into VRML 3D file format permits any user to place their design into a laser scan. The Laser scan represents the as-built 3D field condition of the factory as the time of the scan.
•    Create 2D plan from laser scans. Effectively utilizing mediocre phase based laser scans requires post processing. Here is one method referred to as “Slicing”. The resulting data is quite a bit easier to 1) work with, 2) utilize within a design environment, 3) visualize, 4) preform constructability reports.
•    Trade contractors are more efficient following previous utility routing vs starting from no routing at all. Access to previous Tool Install routing using FBX file format provides trade contractors a much better starting point and should prove to save days of time per tool.
•    Authored, and implemented Project Execution Plans pre Intel, and for P1272, P1274
•    Influenced BIM & CAD standards (REF: Thompson, Justin D) for P1272 & 1274
•    Wrote paper for Israel trades on Revit procedure for transforming to site coordinate system, i.e. Project base point/Survey base point.
•    Wrote master plan incorporating solutions to past lessons learned and best production processes to date

Question: How do you convince people to change?
Present proposed solution or process to be beneficial to them personally, soft social pressure, rewards, optimistic determination (Wikipedia Link)
And if they steadfastly refuse to comply or acquiesce?
Work around them or just don’t provide them another contract

Acceptance reply

Thank you for believing in my ability to provide measurable value to the team. As this and other Intel construction initiatives develop, I strive to elevate Intel’s ability to go from schematic design to as-built in record time, reduced costs, using less manpower.

Rejected reply

Though disappointed, I remain hopeful an appropriate position for me will come to fruition. Thank you for taking the time to interview me, should the selected candidate fall out for any reason please reconsider my application.
